Laurel Donnelly was born in Australia, and started learning violin when she was only 7 years old. In her 17 years of study, she has obtained an honours degree in music from UNSW, and an LmusA with high distinction. She has also been concertmaster of the UNSW Orchestra, as well as playing in many prestigious ensembles. She has performed in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
As a qualified violin teacher with 5 years' teaching experience, she has succeeded in helping her students prepare for AMEB and HSC examinations with strong results, and in helping students gain scholarships and win eisteddfods. Laurel believes that strong communications skills are equally essential to playing ability in teaching. Laurel sets high standards for herself as a lifelong learner and for her students as a means of achieving their full potential. She believes in varying strategies and techniques to ensure a flexible, positive and encouraging environment in which students feel comfortable, are ready to learn and are motivated.
