Janice Klette Evans

Piano/Clarinet Teacher

Janice is a pianist, clarinettist and experienced teacher with an Honours degree in Piano and Clarinet Performance from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She went on to complete postgraduate studies in piano accompanying at the College Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, on a full tuition scholarship.

With more than three decades of teaching experience, Janice has taught piano, clarinet and music theory across pre-primary, primary, secondary and tertiary levels. She has worked with beginners as young as three years old through to advanced students preparing for Grade 8 and above examinations, competitions, and eisteddfods. Many of her students have achieved outstanding results in ABRSM, Trinity College London and Rockschool exams, as well as success in national and local festivals.

Janice has also enjoyed a wide-ranging performing career. She has been the first clarinettist of the Rand Symphony Orchestra since 2012 and has appeared as piano soloist with the orchestra in Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E minor. She has extensive experience as an accompanist, working with singers and instrumentalists, and continues to perform both on piano and clarinet.
